Richard Walsh is the Interim Fire Services Community Coordinator for the Gerlach Fire Department. Rich oversees the Gerlach Fire Department’s recruitment and training of volunteers as well as the oversight of Gerlach’s paid firefighters. Rich got started in fire service at the age of 14 as a Fire Explorer for the Brea Fire Department in Orange County, California. He is also a Paramedic with 16 years of experience in both ground-based EMS and Flight Medicine. Previously, Rich served as a Flight Paramedic for American Medflight and as a Per-Diem Firefighter Paramedic for the Chester Fire Department in the Lake Almanor area. He enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and shooting. Rich also participates in mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu even though working in Gerlach has made that a challenge. On his days off Rich loves spending time with his beautiful Alaskan Malamute named Lee Loo.
