Chief Vetter started his career in public safety as a small boat crewman and as a Boarding Officer in the U.S Coast Guard. After his military career he returned to his home town and joined Klamath County Fire Dist. #1 as a volunteer firefighter. Vetter also worked with the Klamath County Sheriff's office both as a marine deputy and a reserve deputy. Vetter left Klamath Falls to relocate to Grants Pass, Oregon were he continued his career as a firefighter and EMT. Vetter volunteered with Rural Metro Fire Dept. and Rogue River Fire Dept.. as he was attending Rogue Community College in the Fire Science Program and EMT certifications. Vetter also took time away from the fire service to work in commercial building construction, patient rehabilitation, and public education. As the newly hired Fire Chief of Williams RFPD, Vetter states "It has been a positive career move to be able to serve such a wonderful community and department in the beautiful southern corner of Josephine County, Oregon along the base of the Siskiyou Mountain Range.
